Heads Up! Here's How to Watch the Solar Eclipse with Other Nebraska Business Students

There's a total solar eclipse on the first day of classes.
There's a total solar eclipse on the first day of classes.

Join the College of Business community as we experience a once in a lifetime opportunity: watching a total solar eclipse. Business Advising and Student Engagement is hosting a watch location outside the northwest entrance doors of Howard L. Hawks Hall, the new College of Business building. Eclipse totality will be visible in Lincoln at 1:02 p.m., lasting just 90 seconds.

Because watching an eclipse with the naked eye or ordinary sunglasses can damage eyesight, eclipse viewing glasses will be distributed from the Welcome Desk located on the first floor just inside the northwest entrance. Eclipse glasses will also be available at 11 different stations across City Campus. Glasses are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Students and others also will be able to observe the eclipse during a live stream to be featured on the university's homepage. Video from the 16-inch Cassegrain Reflector telescope at the student observatory atop the Stadium Drive parking garage will be streamed beginning when Lincoln first sees the moon start to pass in front of the sun at 11:37 a.m. on Monday, August 21.

Beginning Friday, August 18 and culminating on the day of the eclipse, a series of education-oriented events are planned to highlight science and to celebrate. Learn more at: http://www.unl.edu/2017-solar-eclipse/
