Virtual Career Fair Advice

Below are some tips and advice from students who participated in the Fall Virtual Career Fairs.

Olivia Horner | Marketing
Olivia attended employers' group sessions last fall. She valued how the group session allowed others to participate and ask questions she wouldn't have thought to ask. She believes all students, even those who have to attend for a class, should take advantage of the career fairs and take it seriously since it may be your next connection to an internship or full-time job.

Daichi Yukinawa | Finance
Daichi enjoyed the presentation style of group sessions. He felt group sessions were better for learning about an employer, whereas 1-on-1 sessions were better for connecting with an employer. He was able to send his resume to employers who are looking to hire.

Maddie Hellwig | Marketing
Maddie visited both employers' 1-on-1 sessions and group sessions. She preferred the 1-on-1 style, as it allowed her more time to talk with employers. Maddie's biggest takeaway was to make sure you do your research on an employer before visiting with them and to take notes when employers are speaking to remember the information.

Bella Rodriguez | Accounting
Bella also preferred the 1-on-1 session. 1-on-1 sessions allowed her to talk to employers without anyone else overtaking the conversation. She enjoyed the virtual aspect of the career fair, as there was no line. She was able to visit all of the employers she wanted to virtually.
