||What is your company culture like?||
The University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union is an $84 million credit union that has been serving the students, faculty and staff of the University of Nebraska since 1937. We are known for our friendly staff, and a commitment to educate our members and the university community about financial wellness.
We’re a credit union, not a bank.
What does that mean? The University of Nebraska FCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. The money we earn goes back to our members, not into the pockets of stockholders like a bank. The traditions of credit unions are near and dear to our hearts; not for profit, but for people.
We give back.
The credit union movement is all about giving back to the community we serve, and the University of Nebraska FCU is no exception. We’re dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the community of the University of Nebraska. We are involved in Get Rec’d, Husker Mania, Big Red Welcome, New Employee Orientation, the UNL Housing Fair, and Wellness on Wheels. In addition we hold several seminars a year helping to educate the community about buying a car, or a house or how technology has changed the way financial services are provided. We helped raise money or collected items for the Children’s Miracle Network, Team Jack, LPS Backpack Program, Lincoln Action Program, Capital Humane Society and the People’s City Mission.
||Why should a student want to work for your company?||
We have ten UNL graduates on staff and four staff members who are currently enrolled at UNL. We love to hire UNL students as part-time tellers. We offer a very flexible schedule that works around a student’s class schedule. The credit union is a professional environment where students have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the credit union while providing friendly, professional and personal service to our members. The skills students learn while working at the credit union will be spring board to their next career move.
Our ten UNL graduates enjoy a work-place environment that encourages innovative thinking, continued education and a chance for professional development. Having the opportunity to work in a smaller business gives individuals a great opportunity to expand into many aspects of the business and each person has the ability to influence the direction of the credit union – their suggestions and actions make a difference.
||What majors/interest areas does your company typically seek?||
We have a diverse need, but typically we look at business majors with a focus in finance or accounting. We also have staff working in information technology and marketing fields.
||Do you currently have any open positions, if so what are they?||
We currently have an opening for a part-time teller. The qualifications for this position include good customer service and sales skills, cash handling experience, previous teller experience a plus. The hours are flexible.
