Be Prepared for the Fair!
• Dress in business casual/formal. This means no sweatpants or jeans. This is a first impression- so dress like you would for an interview!
• Bring copies of your updated resume. It is best to have your resume reviewed by a Career Coach (CBA 138) before the Career Fair to ensure your resume is well-written and professional.
• Research the companies that will be attending the fair. With hundreds of employers in the room it can be hard to know whom to talk to, but if you research which companies you are most interested in you will feel more prepared. Career Services publishes the list of registered employers at: http://www.unl.edu/careers/springfair
• Be confident and ask questions! If you are unsure about what to ask, use some of the questions below as starters:
o What is your company culture like?
o What are some of your company’s main values?
o Are there any current internship opportunities available? If not, do you foresee any in the near future?
o What’s a typical entry-level position? What’s a typical day like for these positions?
o What advice do you have for me? What can I do now as a (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior)?
And as always visit Career Services at CBA or Career Services in the City Union to talk about any questions or concerns you may have.
