Job Responsibilities
As a peer career coach, you will be expected to fulfill a year commitment and assist with both BSAD 222 & 333. These are two of the Professional Enhancement Program (PrEP) courses and they occur each semester. Listed below are descriptions of these courses and role responsibilities.

BSAD 222: Career Development & Planning, is a 1-credit hour class designed to help undergraduate business students become confident through self-assessment and résumé building in the second eight weeks of the semester. During the duration of BSAD 222, you will:

Coach 40 students one-on-one about résumé development, offering solid and actionable suggestions for improvement
Serve as a teaching assistant, grading assignments and providing developmental feedback
Communicate with a lead section instructor and primary course instructors to plan and implement in-class activities

BSAD 333: Internship & Job Search Strategies, is a 1-credit hour online class designed to help undergraduate business students focus on strategies to identify, apply for, and secure internships and full-time employment in the first eight weeks of the semester. During the duration of BSAD 333, you will:

Serve as an online group moderator for three groups (10-11 students each), grading assignments and providing developmental feedback
Monitor students’ progress with full responsibility for ensuring students complete all requirements successfully
Answer group members’ questions and troubleshoot issues to assist students

Training
Peer career coaches are considered an essential part of the Business Career Center team and will be required to attend team meetings and, if available, weekly PrEP meetings. In addition to regular one-on-one meetings with a supervisor, they will also communicate with lead instructors for BSAD 222 & 333. Peer career coaches will receive specialized training to enhance their confidence coaching and mentoring their peers regarding career development and planning.

Qualifications
Have an interest in coaching college students
Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with diverse populations
and personality types
Be able to work independently, take initiative and solve problems
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a team of professionals
Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Be a current undergraduate or graduate UNL student in good academic standing
If a business student, successfully completed BSAD 222
Preference given to a student who has successfully completed BSAD 222 & 333
Availability to work up to 10 hours a week during the 2019-2020 academic year

Compensation
Undergraduate students will receive an hourly rate of $10.75. Graduate students’ payment will be dependent based on eligibility in accordance to UNL Graduate Studies policies.
