Earl Hawkey will be honored at a retirement reception on June 30 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Van Brunt Visitors Center. Hawkey has served UNL for 23 years, most recently leading the campus team implementing the current student information system.
Dr. Hawkey started his career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 by serving as university registrar for 21 years. Since 2012 he has served as director of Student Information Systems jointly reporting to ITS and Academic Services and Enrollment Management. He also served as campus project manager for the Nebraska Student Information Systems Project from 2008 to 2011 and was interim director of Scholarships and Financial Aid from 1997 to 1998.
“Earl is a respected leader and expert in working with our students, faculty, and staff through his work as Registrar, and most recently as Director of Student Information Systems,” says Mark Askren, chief information officer. “We thank him for his outstanding service to the university.”
Prior to coming to the university he held various positions at other institutions including the University of Washington, Seattle University and the University of Missouri.
Hawkey holds a bachelor’s degree in government and international studies (with honors) from the University of Notre Dame and master’s and doctorate degrees in political science from the University of Missouri–Columbia.
The retirement reception is free and open to the public.
