Research Days set for Nov. 14-18

University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty, staff and students are invited to save the dates for Nebraska Research Days on Nov. 14-18, hosted by the Office of Research and Economic Development to celebrate and showcase research, scholarly and creative activity. 

Research Days 2022 will focus on innovation; excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion; the Grand Challenges initiative; collaboration and community engagement; and faculty recognition. A mix of in-person and virtual events will be offered, with prizes, videos and multimedia throughout the week. 

Visit the Research Days website to view the latest agenda and for registration, which is required for most events. Some details are still forthcoming and will be posted on the website and the @UNLresearch social media channels as they become available.

Nov. 14, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Platte River Room, Nebraska Union: Grand Challenges Panel Luncheon. Faculty whose projects were chosen in the first, recently announced cycle of Grand Challenges grants will offer their tips for success and team development as the initiative transitions into the second phase and beyond.

Nov. 14, 4-6 p.m.: Innovator Celebration, Nebraska Innovation Campus, hosted by NUtech Ventures.

Nov. 15, time and location to be announced, see Research Days website for updates: Book talk by Dawne Curry, associate professor of history and ethnic studies, who will discuss her recently published book, “Social Justice at Apartheid’s Dawn: African Women Intellectuals and the Quest to Save the Nation.”

Nov. 15, 4-6 p.m.: Faculty Research and Creative Activity Slam, Wick Alumni Center. The Slam features scholars from a range of disciplines presenting their work in an interactive, engaging manner. Slam attendees will vote on the best presenter, who will receive a $1,000 prize for their research and creative endeavors.

Nov. 16, 2-4 p.m.: Nebraska Innovation Studio Open House. Learn how NIS can help researchers develop prototype designs and create art and other projects to help enhance their work.

Nov. 16, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.: The University of Nebraska State Museum is offering complimentary virtual field trips for Nebraska schools on the topic “Fossil Finds in Volcanic Ash.”

Nov. 17, 11:30 a.m.: Association for Women in Science Luncheon.

Nov. 17, 3:30 p.m.: Nebraska Lecture featuring Angie Pannier, Swarts Family Chair in biological systems engineering; “DNA and RNA Delivery: From Novel Therapies to Vaccines that End Pandemics.” The event is open to the public, but registration is required to receive a Zoom link.

Nov. 18, 10 a.m.: Faculty Recognition Event with prizes, videos and a keynote message from Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development.
