Nebraska Statewide Arboretum to host Winter Solstice Hikes on December 20.

Take a respite from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and join the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum for a peaceful outing in nature as we acknowledge the Winter Solstice -- the longest night of the year -- with two hikes at Prairie Pines Nature Preserve (3100 N. 112th St., Lincoln) on Wednesday, December 20.

The first hike will start at 6:30 p.m. (perfect for families with little ones); the second hike will begin at 8:30 p.m.

We'll enjoy the wintery great outdoors and then warm up with a cup of hot cocoa or hot apple cider after both hikes.

Tickets for either hike are $5 per person (children age 5 and under free). Proceeds benefit NSA's tree planting, garden making and environmental education work all across the state.
