
The 2025 Grow Local Field Tour is set for Tuesday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln East Campus Research Farm. Hosted by Sam Wortman, associate professor of agronomy and horticulture, the tour will include presentations about specialty crop and local food systems research at the university and a walking tour of East Campus.
Presentations will include the following topics:
- Biodegradable and innovative plastic mulch films and weed barriers
- Intercropping and double cropping vegetables, strawberries and cut flowers
- Vegetable and strawberry variety trials
- Biochar, compost, cover crops and soil health
Network with other specialty crop growers at the free sandwich lunch provided following the tour.
Tour will begin in the research farm at 4018 Walker Ave, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Please register before June 6, 2025, to help with planning for lunch and parking. If you are registering for a family or group, please complete one registration for each participant in your group.
The Grow Local Innovation Lab in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture works to design, create, and test new methods, ideas, and products to support local specialty crop growers and improve social, economic, environmental sustainability of local food systems.
