University of Nebraska–Lincoln horticulture major Nathan Duffy has been selected for the Western Nursery and Landscape Association’s Student Advisory Committee. Duffy is one of ten top horticulture students in the Midwest to be invited to join the committee.
These students will meet at the 2017 Western conference Jan. 19–20 in Kansas City, Missouri. They are charged with developing ideas and recommendations on educational programming, networking opportunities and other member benefits that would better serve WNLA’s student members now and into the start of their horticulture careers.
The Student Advisory Committee will then meet with the WNLA Board of Directors to share their ideas and recommendations and will work together with the board and WNLA staff to develop and implement these initiatives.
The students are also invited to join the Student Advisory Committee sponsors, the Western Board, Sally Benson, author of “American Nurseryman” and Susan Yoder, executive director of “Seed Your Future” for an evening reception. The reception will serve to better connect current industry leaders with the next generation of leaders.
Since 1890, the Western continues its long-standing tradition as a regional, value oriented and interactive platform with the purpose to provide a social and educational networking event creating, engaging and building sustainable relationships.
