This course introduces both traditional and non-contact methods for documentation and assessment of civil infrastructure with particular application for structural and geotechnical/materials engineering. Includes the study of laser scanning (lidar), point clouds, mesh generation, computer vision, introduction to signal processing, and modal analysis/system identification of structures. The course is project-based and will include laboratory sessions to obtain data for the real-world assessment of various structures and sites. Labs will be in-person on both campuses to allow all students the opportunity to engage with the material. Lectures will be held on both campuses (one day in-person and one day via TV system per week on each campus).

Prerequisites: By Permission. Students with graduate standing in CEE, AE, MME encouraged.
