Summary of Position
The Civil Engineering program in Rayen School of Engineering at Youngstown State University invites applications to fill in a full-time tenure-track assistant professor in Civil Engineering starting in Fall 2024. The program is looking for a faculty member with expertise preferably in geotechnical engineering. Candidates with expertise in transportation or environmental engineering or a combination thereof will also be considered. Applicants with demonstrated research experience in the major field of expertise and teaching experience in sophomore and junior level courses in Civil and Environmental engineering are encouraged to apply. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise graduate students in their theses/projects, and establish and sustain an externally funded research program in the field of expertise. With an expectation of future growth, the program is looking for an outstanding faculty member with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service to the University, community, and the profession.

Position Information
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None

Minimum Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in civil engineering, and an earned Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field with specialization preferably in geotechnical, or transportation or environmental engineering at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in teaching. PE license or equivalent, or a willingness to become licensed.
