Title: Transportation Planning in Lincoln & Lancaster County
Abstract: Transportation planning is a varied and dynamic field that considers how all modes of transportation work together to create an integrated system to efficiently move people and goods and improve quality of life. Public sector planning at the local and regional levels for Lincoln and Lancaster County is led by the Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Lincoln Lancaster County Planning Department with support from other City and County departments, the State of Nebraska, and Federal Government. We will present an overview of the transportation planning process conducted by the City and MPO including long- and short-range planning, the Complete Streets Program, micromobility programs, and current trends and challenges facing transportation today. We will also discuss our upcoming transportation planning efforts over the next 1-2 years.
