
The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Bridge Design Section, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
The Bridge Engineering Assistant plays a hands-on role in managing and enhancing our state’s 1,077 bridges! You'll be involved in a variety of exciting tasks, from conducting bridge inspections and analyzing existing structures to designing new bridges and overseeing construction projects. Under the guidance of licensed engineers, you'll perform structural analysis, calculations, and prepare detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports. You'll also create structural details, calculate quantities, and draft specifications for construction contracts. The working environment you can expect:
This position is located within DOT&PF Headquarters in Juneau, at the DOT&PF 3-mile building on Channel Drive. The office work environment is "casual-professional", team-oriented, and friendly. Bridge inspection assignments can involve travel to all regions of Alaska. We can reach most of our bridges via major airlines and driving, but smaller aircraft, including float planes, are required to reach our remote bridge sites.
