
The College of Engineering and Mines (CEM) at the University of North Dakota invites applications for a 9-month open-rank teaching Professor to support the Engineering program. Depending on the successful candidate's qualifications, the position will be offered at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, or Teaching Professor.
The department will consider applications in the general area of engineering, such as (1) computer programming, (2) engineering mechanics, (3) engineering ethics, (4) engineering economics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Instruction in the engineering division of CEM that supports introductory and common courses for CEM majors.
-Teaching a 4/4 course load in engineering, both on-campus and at-a-distance, potentially including both classroom and laboratory settings. The initial appointment may include a reduced teaching load to initiate external collaborations and course development.
-Recruitment of students into CEM.
-Advising students in course planning and fulfilling graduation requirements.
-Communicating effectively in English with students, faculty, staff, and other professional colleagues in person and at-a-distance (phone, email, Zoom, etc.)
-Utilizing computer hardware and software to carry out teaching and service responsibilities.
-Participating in department, school/university, and professional service activities.

-Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
-Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the College of Engineering and Mines.
-Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery.
-Proven ability to operate effectively as a team player and leader who works effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates and has strong interpersonal skills, and independent judgment.
Minimum Requirements:
-PhD degree in an engineering discipline or a closely related field (Applicants that are completing their PhD by the end of 2025 will be considered)
-Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
