Title: Fooled by Aggregation: Multi-Agent Variability in Traffic Flow
Abstract: Traffic flow heterogeneity, driven by the diverse behaviors of individual agents, poses a fundamental challenge to the development of accurate predictive and prescriptive models that are at the heart of traffic analysis. This work introduces a data decomposition framework to address the limitations of global aggregation methods, which often obscure individual agent behaviors in complex traffic systems. We apply dimensionality reduction techniques to capture the intrinsic heterogeneity embedded in personalized driving behaviors. The results demonstrate how such decomposition enables the development of more precise driver models and enhances traffic flow analytics.
All participants will receive 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH) for attending.
