The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in all areas of One Water Engineering. The appointment is expected to begin in August, 2026. The field of one water engineering has been increasingly emphasized as a critical need with rising awareness of emerging contaminants, diminishing water supplies, and failing water infrastructure systems across the nation. Successful candidates for this position will have expertise in engineered systems for drinking and industrial process water, municipal and industrial wastewater, and/or water reuse. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: treatment or characterization of emerging contaminants and pathogens; recovery of water, nutrients, and energy resources; use-inspired design; and novel treatment technologies. These research topics have a wide range of applications relevant to our region, including urban and rural water treatment infrastructure, the water-energy nexus, sustainable community development, environmental policy, freshwater and marine pollution, and natural resource conservation.

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
An earned bachelor’s degree and doctorate in environmental engineering or a closely related field is required, with professional registration expected prior to tenure.

The review process will start November 1st, 2025 and continue until a successful candidate is identified. For full consideration, applications should be received by December 12, 2025.
