NTC Summer Programs - Mentor Opportunity

The Nebraska Transportation Center is seeking applicants for Student Mentors for two programs, Discover Transportation Engineering (June 3-5) and Tracks to the Future, (June 24-26), on UNL Campus.

Discover Transportation Engineering partners with both the private and public sectors to introduce and have high school students participate in civil and transportation engineering. This will include activities on location at JEO Consulting, Olsson, NDOT, and Benesch, with additional activities run on-campus by Felsburg Holt & Ullevig, HDR, and WSP.

Tracks to the Future introduces railroad engineering to high school students. Students will interact with UNL faculty, connect with railway professionals, visit a BNSF railyard, and participate in hands-on activities hosted on campus.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Active participation in academy events
• Supervising and working with students
• Maintaining academy schedule
• Transportation chaperoning
• Reporting daily to academy director
• Other duties as may arise during the academy

Position details:
• $16.50/hr up to 40 hours; $24.75/hr for overtime.
• Meals and lodging provided
• Required to reside at University Suites for the duration of the program
• Mileage provided if traveling from outside Lincoln area
• Previous experience working with and/or mentoring high school students
strongly preferred
• Background check required
