Job Description:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Idaho State University invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position in Civil Engineering with a focus area of Geotechnical Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong interest in teaching and mentoring students and will contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate instructional mission. This position requires teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering, with a specialization in geotechnical engineering and related areas of the civil engineering or geology. The teaching expectation is four courses per semester. Courses are usually delivered in person on the Pocatello campus and potentially through distance-learning formats to the other campuses and online students via Zoom. This position is focused on teaching, student mentoring, curriculum development, and service including student clubs and advising. The expected start date is either the Fall 2026 Semester or the Spring 2027 Semester.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment (ABD is acceptable).
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and professional service.
