Department of Civil Engineering award winners announced

Congratulations to the 2016 Department of Civil Engineering Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award winners!

-Brandt M. Humphrey, whose MS thesis entitled “Improved Methodologies in Modeling and Predicting Failure in AASHTO M-180 Guardrail Steel Using Finite Element Analysis – Phase I”, was to receive the 2016 Department of Civil Engineering Outstanding Thesis Award. Brandt is a May 2016 graduate of our CIVE MS program, specializing in structural engineering, and was advised by Ronald Faller.

-Jodi Sangster, whose PhD dissertation entitled “The Influence Of Sediment Characteristics On The Fate Of Steroidogenic Compounds In Aquatic Systems And The Effects On Progesterone Bioavailability In A Target Organism”, was to receive the 2016 Department of Civil Engineering Outstanding Dissertation Award. Jodi is a May 2016 graduate of our CIVE PhD program, specializing in environmental engineering, and was advised by Shannon Bartelt-Hunt.

-Yun Zhang, whose PhD dissertation entitled "Occurrence, Biotransformation and Bioavailability of Endocrine Disrupting Compounds in Sediment”, was to receive a honorable mention of the 2016 Department of Civil Engineering Outstanding Dissertation Award. Yun is a May 2016 graduate of our CIVE PhD program, specializing in environmental engineering, and was advised by Shannon Bartelt-Hunt.

The winners of the awards will receive a certificate and their names will be engraved on a plaque displayed in the Department of Civil Engineering Office.
