Preorder your nine month parking permit now – Takes effect August 15

The new 2016-2017 nine month parking permits are available and must be displayed on August 15. Permit costs are the same as last year – no increases.

You can purchase your nine month parking permit in person or online. This includes nine month permits for faculty and staff surface parking lots and garages; and student resident, commuter and perimeter permits for lots and garages.

Make your purchase online at http://parking.unl.edu/parking

Purchase your permit in person at the Parking and Transit Services office, 625 Stadium Drive, Suite A.
To make it easier, complete your Permit Application Form in advance and bring it with you. The form is available at http://parking.unl.edu/documents/Parking-Permit-Application-Form.pdf

Payment can be made with debit or credit card, cash, check, employee payroll deduction or student consolidated billing. A payment option has been added specifically for graduate students, monthly consolidated billing.

Bus passes are available.
UNL/StarTran bus passes also are available. Faculty and staff who purchase parking permits can receive a bus pass for no additional cost. Bus passes may also be purchased separately for $144 annually or $108 for nine months.

Students receive free bus passes in August, thanks to the student transit fee paid through student fees.

Use only current garage hang tag

If you purchase a new garage parking permit, leave it outside your vehicle until the day it takes effect. On that day, remove the hang tag that has expired from your vehicle. The presence of two tags will cause multiple scans of the RFID signals and keep the gates from working properly. To avoid these problems, don’t keep both new and expired hang tags in your vehicle.

Reminder: Garage permits are valid only in the assigned garage, and only for a single vehicle at a time. Use the correct garage and don’t try to let additional vehicles use the gates with your permit.

Display permit properly

The UNL parking permit sticker should be displayed on the windshield of your vehicle for access to designated parking areas across UNL campuses.
• Apply the sticker permit to the lower driver’s side windshield on the INTERIOR of the window glass.
• The permit must be easily visible from the outside.
• This permit is in effect only for the dates that appear on the sticker.

Parking & Transit Services construction updates

Maintenance projects are currently underway in garages on the downtown campus. Garages will remain open, with limited restricted parking areas during the projects. Installation of new lighting in the 17th & R Garage is complete. Parking construction projects have moved forward smoothly across all campuses and are on schedule for completion.
