Campus activities to impact traffic, parking

Move out
Students moving out of campus housing will impact traffic and access to parking during the week of May 1. Meters near residence halls will be hooded and unavailable for service. Signage outlining parking restrictions will be posted in lots by campus residence halls.

Commencement
University commencement exercises will be held May 5 and 6. Watch for traffic and parking restrictions to accommodate visitors and events.

Lincoln Marathon
The Lincoln Marathon is Sunday, May 7. City Campus is a key area for the race and related events. The official marathon route includes the west part of City Campus and the finish line is at Memorial Stadium.

On May 6, 14th Street will close north of Vine Street. Parking will also close near the Champions Club, Stadium Garage, 501 Building and South Stadium at 5 a.m. May 7. Parking restrictions, fans, runners and traffic will be factors on race day.

New parking permit sales underway; no cost increases

Online sales of campus parking permits for the 2017-18 fiscal and academic year are in progress. Prices for all permits remain the same as current rates.

Information about permits is available on the Parking and Transit Services website, http://parking.unl.edu/parking In person sales begin June 1.

University/StarTran bus passes are also available. The passes are free for faculty and staff parking permit holders. They can also be purchased separately. Free bus passes for students, which are funded by student transit fees, will be distributed in August.

Reminder: Nebraska vehicles receive new license plates in 2017.
Parking permit records must include correct license plate information. To update registration with new license information, access parking accounts online, enter the new registration information and delete the old listing. Construction will affect traffic

Beginning Monday, May 8, thermal energy storage tank construction will close 16th Street north of W Street. The closure will extend through the summer.

Parking adjustments
Permit holders from the Business Services Complex may park in the Area A Boathouse, Area R01 north of the Harper-Schramm-Smith residence hall complex, the leased property at 19th and Y streets and the perimeter lot south of the Devaney Sports Center.

Access to the parking lot by Boathouse at 16th and X streets; Area A and Area C will be re-directed to the temporary drive located on X Street.

Access to the parking lot at 14th and W streets, Area A and Area C and meters will be re-directed to the W Street entrance.

Parking and Transit Services will continue to provide updates as the project moves forward.
