UNL Parking and Transit Services

Parking permit access expands after peak hours

Campus parking access expands after regular business hours for permit holders. Permits provide regular access to designated lots and garages. However, during late day and evening, permit holders may park in a wider set of campus areas. This option can be a benefit for late day meetings, sessions or events.

A complete list of expanded parking options and hours is detailed at http://go.unl.edu/pts1

Expanded options do not apply on home football game days.

On-call van service connects campus locations

University parking permit holders can take advantage of an on-call van transportation service at no cost. The service provides rides between designated campus bus stops after the end of daily bus route schedules.

The service is available weekdays in perimeter permit areas beginning at 6 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at designated campus bus stops.

The on-call van service is simple to use:
• Arrive at a designated StarTran bus stop.
• Call 402-326-8807.
- Provide current location and destination request.
- Response time is about 15 minutes.
• Enter the van upon arrival and repeat the destination request.

The van delivers riders to requested campus bus stop locations. The on-call van service is available weekdays during fall and spring semesters.

Campuses share parking access

University of Nebraska campuses in Lincoln, Kearney, Omaha and the Medical Center have reciprocal parking agreements. A Lincoln campus permit is accepted for work-related visits to these other campuses. And, permits from the other University of Nebraska campuses are accepted on City and East campuses.

Complete Lincoln reciprocal lot assignments are detailed at http://go.unl.edu/pts5

Permits from other University of Nebraska campuses are not honored in Lincoln on football game days.

Keep only current garage permit in vehicle

Garage permit holders must keep only the most current hang tag in their vehicles.

Each hang tag has RFID coding that provides access through the garage gate scanners. If an expired permit remains in a car, the multiple RFID signals confuse gate scanners and interfere with entrance and exit from garages.

Display your current university parking garage permit from the vehicle rear view mirror. Details are available at http://go.unl.edu/pts3

Use current license plate for parking permit records

Permit holders must verify current license plate information on campus parking permit registrations. Any new plate, as an annual renewal or change in vehicles, must be updated to avoid citations.

To update campus parking permit license information, permit holders must access the online parking service account, enter the new registration information by adding a new vehicle and delete the old listing.
