Name: Minh Doan

Hometown: Hastings, NE

Major: Biological Sciences with minors in Global Studies, Psychology and History.

Favorite Food: That's really hard. I'm a huge foodie so I love all sorts of different flavors and ingredients.

Random fact about yourself: I have my yellow belt in Judo...it really isn't that exciting but I am proud that I earned it. It was tough.

Something you have learned as a W.H. Thompson Scholar: To really appreciate the opportunity to go to college and not to mention with a scholarship like the Buffett Scholarship. It's been tremendously helpful so I've learned to be very appreciative.

Something you love most about being a W.H. Thompson Scholar: The people! By far, I have met some dynamic, interesting people through the community, I don't even know where to begin. Everyone has something awesome to share, and I learn so much. It's really great.

Something you are looking forward to as the new Vice President for the William H. Thompson Scholars Mentor Recognized Student Organization (RSO): I really look forward to the new possibilities that await us this year. I am very excited to work with the rest of the RSO staff in planning and carrying out events. The Learning Community is really growing, and I want students from the community to feel connected. Whatever we do, my hope and goal is to do it with energy and the best effort. To show that here we are, we are a strong learning community, united and a dynamic bunch that will take on the world by storm because of the opportunities and foundation we have at the university through Buffett. I'd love for a year where students leave feeling like they have the tools they need to carry forth. And the optimism to pursue their passion.

Where you see yourself in 10 years: In ten years, I will be 31 years old! So hopefully, I will not be found on an online dating website but rather married with a career in health care. Right now, I am thinking the physician assistant route is where I'd like to go. Other than a family life and career, I'm very much open to life's possibilities.
