The CSE Learning Community spent a couple of days exploring Minneapolis last week. They toured two tech companies, went to the Mall of America, attended a show at the Guthrie Theatre, and finished the trip visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

The first company they toured was called The Nerdery and it is a developer-driven interactive production shop. They employ 500 people and work with small companies all the way up to large companies like Target. The environment was very cool - free food, bring your dog to work, and nerd-friendly (obviously).

The second company toured was Infinite Campus, the creators of the largest American-owned student information system. Students enjoyed touring their state of the art building which featured a rock climbing wall and koi pond. The owner of Infinite Campus is a huge Trekkie so there were touches of Star Trek throughout the building.

The CSE students were accompanied by their Learning Community Coordinator, Jenna Huttenmaier, as well as students and coordinators from eight other Learning Communities. It was a great opportunity for students to meet others and explore opportunities in their majors.
