It is that time of year when people start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions and starting the New Year with good habits. The SNR Wellness Team would like to help you ring in the New Year with healthy habits by sponsoring two SNR wellness events in January.

Walkabout Spectacular: Come say hello to everyone returning for the New Year with light and healthy refreshments and a brief presentation from UNL Wellness about the importance of taking walking breaks. Then, take to the halls and stairs. We will have guided tours of the walking routes in Hardin Hall that were developed by the SNR Wellness Team, which are especially helpful as we endure cold temperatures during the winter. For the “Flatlanders” we transverse the second floor. For the “DownUnders” we spelunk the basement. If you like some “Ups and Downs” we have a route that combines the first and second floors. And for the more adventurous, we will climb the stairs in the tower of Hardin Hall, a.k.a. “Mount Saint Hardin.” Check out our routes.

This event will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the second floor lobby of Hardin Hall. The presentation from UNL Wellness will begin at 10:15, and the walking tours will begin at 10:30. Put on your walking shoes and join us.

SNR Cooking Demo: Congratulations SNR! We brought the most people to the UNL Wellness “All About You” event, so we won a FREE cooking demonstration for our department. The topic will be Versatile Cooking, and we will be making stir fry to sample. The demo will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Recreation and Wellness Center kitchen, 1717 N. 35th St., Lincoln. You are welcome to bring your lunch, as we will only be sampling the food. The demo is limited to 40 people, so please register here. We hope to see you there.
