Huskers fans warned to be on alert for fake tickets

UNL is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its NCAA record sellout streak at Memorial Stadium on Oct. 27 when the Huskers face the University of Michigan. The sold-out game will mark the 323rd consecutive sellout at Memorial Stadium, a streak that dates back to 1962.

Nebraska officials remind fans to be cautious if purchasing tickets for the game from sources other than the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office or http://www.huskers.com. Several universities around the nation, including UNL, have recently witnessed a rise in the distribution of counterfeit tickets. At the Nebraska-Wisconsin game in Lincoln on Sept. 29, Huskers officials discovered 18 counterfeit tickets had been sold on Craigslist for that game. Individuals who purchased those tickets were unable to enter the stadium. The UNL Police Department has an ongoing investigation into the incident.

“We believe the incident with counterfeit tickets at the Nebraska-Wisconsin game was an isolated situation," said Holly Adam, UNL's assistant athletics director for ticketing. "My recommendation to fans would always be to know who the seller is before you buy tickets from an outside source."

Fans with questions regarding ticket availability for Husker football or any Nebraska athletic event should contact the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office at 402-472-3111 or go to http://www.huskers.com.
