The UNL Dizziness and Balance Disorder Lab is offering free risk of falling screenings, 1 to 5 p.m., Sept. 23 at the Barkley Memorial Center on East Campus. The screenings are part of National Falls Awareness Day, which is designed to increase public awareness about how to prevent and reduce falls among older adults.

Each year, more than 1 million healthy adults in the United States experience debilitating falls. Identification of falling risk factors is necessary so prevention strategies may be implemented. The Dizziness and Balance Disorder Lab is offering the screenings in conjunction with the National Council on Aging-Falls Free Coalition.

Parking for participants is available in lots north and south of the Barkley Center.
