An Innovation Seminar Series will offer free sessions providing tools to foster creativity and new thinking approaches.

Shane Farritor, professor in mechanical and materials engineering and founder of two Nebraska-based startup companies, leads the series.

Farritor, who grew up near Kearney and earned his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said, "I want to help people gain (or regain) ways to be more innovative and creative, for use at work and beyond."

Innovation Seminar Series sessions will be Tuesdays and Thursdays — Oct. 18 and 20; Nov. 1, 3, 15 and 22 — at two locations and times: Jorgensen Hall room 110, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, 1800 N. 33rd St., from 6 to 7 p.m. Topics span innovation techniques and environments, risk-taking for the individual and organization, and clear communication of ideas for implementation.
