This summer, I participated in a research internship in Brisbane, Australia. I was able to lead my own research project involving body sway in ballet dancers, from designing the experiment to analyzing the data.

The research paper, which I am lead author, is submitted and awaiting publication in the Journal of Sports Engineering. But one of the best parts about interning abroad is the opportunity to TRAVEL!

Being in Brisbane kept me centrally located, so I got to visit Sydney, North Stradbroke Island, Cairns, and even the capital of the Northern Territory, Darwin. When in Darwin I saw cave paintings 40,000 years old and jumped off a 46 foot waterfall! There’s nothing better than a summer spent with the koalas resulting in a publication. Whether you study or intern abroad, you’ll gain more than you expect, and it’s absolutely worth it.
