NEBRASKA UNION, 3-5PM
Symposium to Tie Japanese, Nebraska Economies
The connections, actual and potential, between the economies of Nebraska and Japan will be the subject of the symposium, The Japanese Economy and Nebraska, being held today from 3-5pm in the auditorium of the Nebraska Union.
Speakers will include Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns, Takao Shibata, consul general of Japan at Kansas City, Mo., Shin-Ichi Tamba, president of Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., U.S.A, and Scott Fuess, professor of economics at UNL, who focuses much of his scholarly research on Japan.
The symposium is part of UNL's Japan Festival, sponsored by the university's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Consulate General of Japan at Kansas City. It is free and open to the public.

Comedian Alexandra McHale to Perform in Nov. 11 Dinner Theatre
When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, doors open at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30, show at 7
Where: Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.
A comedy dinner theatre featuring comedian Alexandra McHale will be performed this evening at the Nebraska Union.
McHale has been featured recently on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn and Comedy Central's ,Premium Blend. She has been voted Female Entertainer of the Year by college students in Campus Activities Today magazine two consecutive years. She has also performed in many theatre productions in the United States and Europe and has performed in the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, as well as the comedy show New Joke City.
Doors open at 6pm, with dinner served at 6:30 and the show beginning at 7. The deadline for purchasing dinner tickets has passed, but show-only tickets are still avilable to students for $5.
McHale's appearance is presented by the University Program Council, a volunteer student organization designed to address the co-curricular, social, recreational, cultural and educational needs of the UNL campus.
