UNL Women's Center Plans Week Without Violence Events

Week Without Violence

Domestic violence is historically the most prolific violent crime that occurs in Lincoln. During the 11th-annual Week Without Violence, staff and volunteers with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Women's Center hopes to educate the community on domestic violence issues through numerous educational opportunities. Registration is not required for any of these free events.

The schedule includes events that take place over the course of the next 10 days, including a "Knit-In for Non-Violence," booth in the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. from 10 am-4 pm. Women's Center knitting group will unravel the threads of violence in society and create a healthier community through fiber arts and discussion.

Tomorrow, a "Speak-Out Against Violence," will be held at the Union Square, Nebraska Union from 11 am-1 pm. Members of the UNL and Lincoln communities are invited to take a stand against all forms of violence by making a speech, reading a poem or prose, or singing a song.
