Hillestad Friends Announce Textile Art Education Outreach Curriculum
The Friends of the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have announced a creative textile art educational outreach curriculum, "Fiber Celebrations of Joy."
The curriculum was developed to coincide with the "Celebration Threads: New Twists by Robert Hillestad" at the gallery. The outreach is an effort to expose students across the state to the textile medium and to noted artist Robert Hillestad. more...

Building to Bring Physics, Astronomy Together
Excavators are carving out the footprint of a new home for physics and astronomy. Funded by the Nebraska Unicameral, construction of the $37 million Physical Sciences Building has started along 16th Street, west of the Walter Scott Engineering Center.
The four-story, 124,000-square-foot building will include two lecture halls, four teaching labs and eight classrooms, along with office and lab space for physics and astronomy faculty. more...

Paranoid Park and Then She Found Me Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Paranoid Park and Then She Found Me. Both films will show through June 5.
In Paranoid Park, an unsolved murder at Portland's infamous park of the title's namesake brings detectives to a local high school, propelling a young skater into a moral odyssey where he must not only deal with the pain and disconnect of adolescence but the consequences of his own actions. As director of My Own Private Idaho, Good Will Hunting, To Die For and elephant, Gus Van Sant has created some of the most memorable films about youth ever committed to film.
Adapted from Elinor Lipman's novel of the same name, Helen Hunt makes her feature directing debut with Then She Found Me, a touching story of schoolteacher April Epner (Hunt) and her very unlikely path towards personal fulfillment. Following the separation from her husband (Matthew Broderick) and the death of her adopted mother, April is contacted by her apparent birth mother (Bette Midler), who turns out to be a local talk show host Bernice Graves. As Bernice tries to become the mother to April that she was never able to be, April seems to find solace in the arms of the parent of one of her students (Colin Firth), only to find that the mystery to life’s questions cannot be solved by a simple revelation.
