Vote For New Logo and Title of Student Series
What do you call events on Friday nights at the Union that are fun, entertaining, and a great alternative to leaving campus? Student Involvement is now choosing a new name and logo will be used for a late night program, and your input is needed.
The new series will include free food and a variety of entertaining events in the Nebraska Unions on designated Friday Nights. Vote now!
King Exhibit Continues at Sheldon Museum of Art
A mid-career survey, "The Sizes of Things in the Mind's Eye," continues at the Sheldon Museum of Art. The collection presents approximately 65 sculptures, film animations, installations, drawings and photographs by artist Elizabeth King.
King combines her meticulously wrought figurative sculptures with stop-frame film animation in installations that blur the boundary between actual and virtual space. Intimate in scale and distinguished by a level of craft that solicits close viewing, this work reflects her interests in early clockwork automata, the history of the mannequin and the puppet, and literature's host of legends in which the inanimate or artificial figure comes to life. more...

Mongol and Roman De Gare Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Mongol and Roman De Gare. Both films will show through July 31.
Filmed in the very lands that gave birth to Genghis Khan, Mongol transports us back to a distant and exotic period in world history; to a nomad's landscape of endless space, climatic extremes and ever-present danger. In a performance of powerful stillness and subtlety, celebrated young Japanese actor Asano Tadanobu (Zatoichi, Last Life in the Universe) captures the inner fire that enabled a hunted boy to become a legendary conqueror. Asano's achievement is matched by those of his co-stars, including the radiant newcomer Khulan Chuluun as Khan's courageous, spirited wife Borte, and the Chinese actor Honglei Sun (The Road Home) as the Mongol chieftain Jamukha, Khan's dearest friend and deadliest enemy. Masterfully blending action and emotion against some of the most arresting terrain on earth, Bodrov delivers an exciting and awe-inspiring tale of survival and triumph, and a love story for the ages.
True to its title, Roman De Gare ("Crossed Tracks") finds famed French director Claude Lelouch (Un Homme Et Une Femme) jumping between time and loyalties in this suspenseful mystery about fate and fatal secrets. Taking advantage of a superb cast and gorgeous French locations, Lelouch's veteran touch deftly manages the films multiple layers of mystery and romance. The result is a pleasingly chic thriller grounded in a very human belief in the surprising possibilities that come from love.
