Student Involvement Hosts Hypnotist Jim Wand & Bathtub Dogs

On Friday, Jan. 23,the Nebraska East Union will offer a free night of bowling, crafts, mocktails, karaoke, video games, and performances. Hypnotist Jim Wand will perform from 9 to 11 p.m., and Bathtub Dogs perform at 11:00 p.m. Pancake feed from 11 to midnight.

Winter Winds Festival Finale Concert

School of Music Hosts Winter Winds Festival Finale Concert

The Winter Festival is a unique concert band and chamber ensemble festival for gifted high school students designed to give them a comprehensive playing experience. As a conclusion to this weekend event, the Festival Finale Concert is Sunday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. The concert features the Honor Band, the University Wind Ensemble and the Festival Symphonic Band. There is no admission fee.

Get Rec'd 2009 at UNL Campus Recreation Center

Get Rec'd will be held again today from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the UNL Campus Recreation Center, 14th Street north of Vine Street. The festival-type event showcases vendors, entertainment, and competitions for the UNL students, faculty and staff, as well as the public. Although primarily targeted to UNL students, the event is open to the entire university community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit vendor booths, try out new products, collect giveaway items, grab a bite to eat and enter to win prizes through both drawings and contests. Last year, more than $26,000 in prizes were awarded to attendees through official Get Rec'd contests. More than 90 local, regional and national companies have signed on to appear at the 2009 event more...

Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar Plays at Lied Center

Jesus Christ Superstar will make its Lincoln debut at the Lied Center for Performing Arts for a limited engagement on Saturday, January 24 at both 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. A rock opera, the musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber is based on the canonical gospels' accounts of the last weeks of Jesus's life, beginning with Jesus and his followers arriving in Jerusalem and ending with the Crucifixion.

Tickets for this performance are $49, $44 and $39. Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (as well as other participating colleges) with a valid I.D., as well as youth age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. For weekday evening performances, Lied Center Ticket Office hours are from 11 a.m. until 30 minutes after show time. Tickets may also be purchased online at the Lied Center website.
