'RAIN' Delivers Beatles Experience to Lied Center

The members of "RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles" don't just cover Beatles songs, they're dedicated to delivering a perfect, note-for-note performance of each original masterpiece. They even look, talk and act like the Beatles. RAIN will bring Beatlemania to Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. Friday March 13 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Tickets for this performance are $50, $45 and $40. UNL students with a valid I.D., as well as youths age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office, 301 N. 12th St., at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for ticket availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may also be purchased online at the Lied Center website.

Astronaut Clayton Anderson to Appear at NU State Museum

The University of Nebraska State Museum will host an appearance by NASA astronaut and Nebraska native Clayton Anderson 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 at Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.

Beginning at 11 a.m., Anderson will give a presentation featuring images from his flights aboard the Space Shuttles and his five-month stay on the International Space Station. This will be followed by a question and answer session with the public from 11:30 to noon. There will be a meet and greet period from 12:30 to 2 p.m., when visitors will have the opportunity for photographs and autograph signings with Nebraska's first astronaut. The museum's Mueller Planetarium will present the fulldome show "Dawn of the Space Age" at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. that day. more...

4 UNL Students Named National Wasson Award Winners

Four University of Nebraska-Lincoln students will be presented with the William N. Wasson Student Leadership and Academic Award by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association during the organization's national conference April 1-4 in Charlotte, N.C.

Presented to 24 undergraduate and 12 graduate students nationwide each year, the award is named after the association's founder William N. Wasson, and recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who are active participants, employees or volunteers in collegiate recreational sports departments. This year's recipients include: Brandon Deeds, a senior nutrition and exercise science major from Scottsbluff; Teresa Grosserode, a nutrition and health science master's degree student from Omaha; Bridget Meduna, a senior biochemistry major from Weston; Michael Nolan, senior athletic training major from Grand Island. more...
