When thousands of new and returning Huskers converge on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the highlight of their arrival Aug. 21-23 will be the annual Big Red Welcome presented by University Bookstore: a convocation, celebration and festival spanning the entire weekend.

Beginning 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21 with the New Student Convocation and ending with the Welcome Festival at 6 p.m. Aug. 23, the weekend is a tradition, complete with the highlight for many, doing the "Tunnel Walk" at Memorial Stadium -- running from the team tunnel, to the music, video and cheers at Memorial Stadium just like the Nebraska football team. The Tunnel Walk for new students is 8:15 p.m. Aug. 21 following the 7 p.m. Marching Band Concert. more...

Annual Fall Move-in Days at UNL: Expect High Traffic, Parking Aug. 20-22

Back-to-campus time this week at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will bring thousands of students moving in to their residence halls in the span of a few days. Visitors and Lincoln residents should be aware of minor traffic delays in the City Campus vicinity because of closing of lanes and some congestion from move-in traffic.

UNL officials advise motorists that it may be wise to steer clear of campus during the week as students move into their residence halls in preparation for the Aug. 24 start of classes. The majority of students will move into their halls from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 and 21. Many students living in the Courtyards at 17th and Vine streets and Village at 16th and Y streets, will move in beginning Aug. 16. more...
