Takle Discusses Food Production and Climate Trends
Eugene S. Takle, Professor of Agronomy and Director of the Climate Science Initiative at Iowa State University, will deliver "Midwest Corn Production Under the Influence of Climate Change, Climate Variability, and Wind Turbines," at 3 p.m. in the Hardin Hall Auditorium. This presentation will discuss crop-sensitive climate trends in the Central U.S. in comparison with those of other global food producing regions.
Takle's research interests include regional impacts of global climate change, improvements in roadway weather forecasts and wind power forecasts, and computer modeling of microclimates created by shelterbelts. Much of the shelterbelt research has been conducted as part of a long and productive collaboration with UNL professors James Brandle and Xinhua Zhou.
Computer Shop Holds 'Spooktacular' Event
The UNL Computer and Phone Shop is having a Spooktacular Event on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. outside the Nebraska Union. Booths for students, faculty and staff to trick-or-treat. This event will include the UNL Computer and Phone Shop, and its vendors.
Visitors will also get a chance to win technology prizes, including computer bags, iPod Nano, and more. Free popcorn.

Coope Gives Honors Forum Lecture
Associate Professor of History Jessica Coope will give the lecture, "After Genghis Khan: The Mongols and the Medieval Eurasian Trade Routes" in the Nebraska Union Auditorium at 7 p.m. Her talk is part of the Honors Forum and is a Nebraska Colloquium event.
