Monsanto Official Speaks Friday
Michael Doane, director of agriculture, economics and sustainability for Monsanto Co., presents a public lecture -- "Producing More While Conserving More: Can We Do It?" – today at 10:30 a.m. in the Kauffman Center Great Hall. Attendees should enter through the south doors. A question and answer session will follow his presentation.
Doane has worked for Monsanto Co. for 10 years in a variety of industry relations and sales management roles. In his current position, he is based at the company's St. Louis headquarters and works on issues related to the economic and environmental sustainability of agriculture systems. more...

Nebraska Alumni Hosts Football Friday
The Nebraska Alumni Association will host Football Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 20 at the Wick Alumni Center, bringing together University of Nebraska alumni, fans, staff and former letter winners for food and football fun.
Featured guests for this week include Tommie Frazier, Matt Davison, Kevin Sjuts, (KOLN/KGIN); Jon Nyatawa, (Omaha World-Herald); Brian Rosenthal, (Lincoln Journal-Star). Admission to Football Friday is free. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Demolition of Reunion Building Begins
Demolition of the Reunion building will begin Nov. 19. This will affect a small number of parking spaces in the West and North lots in the vicinity of the building. Parking will not be affected there on Saturday for the game.
Weather permitting, the building will be fully demolished by Nov. 30, and the parking spaces back in service by Jan. 15.

New Quilt Exhibition Showcasing Contemporary Artists Opens Saturday
Quilts of 21 contemporary artists will be on display at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's International Quilt Study Center and Museum in the new exhibition "Perspectives: Art, Craft, Design and the Studio Quilt," showing Nov. 21 through May 9 at the museum, 1523 N. 33rd St. The exhibition assembles quilts from the permanent collection of the IQSC complemented by several related works in various media owned by local collectors.
UNL scholar Michael James, internationally recognized studio quilter and chair of UNL's Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design, and fellow fiber artist and New York City-based art critic Sandra Sider curated the exhibition and wrote the accompanying catalog. more...
University Theatre Presents Shakespeare's King Lear
Behind and below the stage in the Temple Building's Howell Theatre, students have been working all fall on the production of William Shakespeare's King Lear. King Lear is the thesis show of Theron Seckington (technical director), Patric Vendetti (scenic) and Cecelia Sickler (costumes). It is also the thesis show for graduate acting students Tiffiney Baker, Kyle Broussard, Daniel Gilbert, Robie Hayek, Ryan Kathman, Beth King and Lucy Lockamy. Students in the Scene Shop work to build the set. Others in the costume shop sews garments from scratch. In a basement classroom, the stage makeup class hones their skills.
King Lear will be presented Nov. 20 & Dec. 2, 3, 4, 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. in Howell Theatre, first floor Temple Building, 12th & R streets. Tickets are available at the Lied Center Ticket Office, 301 N. 12th Street, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performances in Temple Theatre's Lobby.

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents An Education and Trucker. Both films will screen through December 3.
