Housing Holds Knoll Residential Center Open House

University Housing will host an open house event for the Robert E. Knoll Residential Center on Dec. 11 from 4-7 p.m. Visitors can enter the hall near the corner of 17th and R Streets.

The Robert E. Knoll Residential Center will open in the fall semester, 2010 and features 565 beds in suite-style units, with just over half of those units available for freshmen residents in four-person, double room suites.

Cornhusker Marching Band Holds Highlight Concert
Cornhusker Marching Band

The Cornhusker Marching Band will give their annual highlights concert on Friday, Dec 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The Highlights concert features all of the music played throughout the season, including seven full half-time shows and the usual pre-game show, which turns out to be a total of about 25-30 songs. Reserved seat adult tickets are $12, and student/senior tickets are $6. Advanced tickets can be purchased by calling the Lied Center Box Office at 402/472-4747 or 800/432-3231.

Repertory Theatre Presents The Santaland Diaries
Santaland Diaries

The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, presents Executive Director Paul Steger in David Sedaris's biting comedy The Santaland Diaries. The production, directed by Artistic Director Virginia Smith, will have performances December 11 & 12 at 7:30 and 10:00 p.m., and December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, first floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets.

Tickets are $20, $18 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $10 students with ID. Tickets are available from the Lied Center Ticket Office, 301 N. 12 Monday through Friday 11 AM to 5:30 PM and one hour prior to the performance in the Temple Theatres Lobby, or by telephone at 472-4747 or 800-432-3231.

Horticulture Club Poinsettia Sale is Friday

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Horticulture Club will have a Poinsettia Sale on Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. at both the Nebraska Union and Nebraska East Union.

University Singers SOUTHWOOD LUTHERAN CHURCH, SUN 4:30PM
University Singers Perform Handel's "Messiah"

The University Singers will be performing George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" on Sunday December 13, at 4:30 p.m. The concert will be held at the Southwood Lutheran Church, 9300 So. 40th Street in south Lincoln and is free and open to the public.

The 76-member choir will be joined by a professional orchestra for the performance of this famous piece. The ensemble will be conducted by Pete Eklund, Director of Choral Activities at UNL. Also joining the choir will be six UNL vocal faculty soloists.

 

Holiday Bowl
Alumni Association Offers Holiday Bowl Travel

The Huskers will go for their 10th win of the season against the Arizona Wildcats in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl on December 30th. The Nebraska Alumni Association offers full charter air and land-only packages, including tickets to the game at Qualcomm Stadium.

BOSR Holds Research Presentation

The Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR) and the Survey, Statistics, and Psychometrics (SSP) Core Facility will present, "Data + Funding = Big Results: How BOSR and SSP can help you meet your research goals" on Friday, Dec. 11 at 12:30 p.m. in 104 Benton Hall.

Topics to be covered include avenues for receiving funding for research and economical ways to collect publishable data or data in support of a grant application. Data collection can be an expensive and daunting endeavor. This discussion, relevant to both faculty and graduate student researchers, will present strategies for identifying funding opportunities to collect data that lead to big results such as funded grants and published research. more...

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Bright Star and Paris. Both films will show through December 20.
