UHC Offers H1N1 Vaccines

Beginning on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, the University Health Center will be able to give H1N1 vaccines to all UNL students, faculty, staff and family by appointment only. The shot will be at no charge for UHC facility fee paying students (those taking 7 or more credit hours); students taking 6 or less credits and UNL faculty, staff and family will be charged the administration fee of $6. Call (402) 472-5000 to schedule an appointment.

UNL Biochemist Donald Weeks Elected AAAS Fellow

Donald Weeks, Maxcy professor of agriculture and natural resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has been elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest federation of scientists.

Election as a fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. This year, AAAS fellowships were awarded to 531 members. Fellowship winners are honored for their efforts to advance science or applications that are deemed scientifically or socially distinguished. more...

UNL Commencement Exercises Held For 1,400-Plus

More than 1,400 students received degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln fall commencement exercises on Dec. 18 and 19. Graduate commencement exercises, including doctoral hooding, were Dec. 18 for students earning doctoral and master's degrees. Undergraduate exercises were at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. The College of Law held a separate hooding and commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Dec. 18.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman presided at both events at the Devaney Center and confered the degrees at the Law College ceremony. Anna Shavers, interim dean of the college, presided over the law ceremony. more...
