UNL Scientists Focused on Improving Microwave Food Safety
Many people cook a frozen dinner in a microwave oven for a quick and easy meal, but how many of them follow the directions on the box exactly? Jeyam Subbiah thinks it's very few, and food-borne illnesses are the possible result.
Subbiah, University of Nebraska-Lincoln food engineer in the departments of biological systems engineering and food science and technology, is leading a team of Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources researchers in a study about the use of microwave ovens to cook popular frozen dinners safely. more....

Great Plains Art Museum Opens Two New Exhibits
The Great Plains Art Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present both the watercolors of Arthur Short Bull and 'Searching for Real Nebraska' in exhibitions opening Jan. 5. Both exhibitions will show through March 28.
Short Bull's 'Places & Narratives' concentrates on areas and events of spiritual significance to the Lakota people. Being raised in a traditional family on the Pine Ridge Reservation gives Short Bull special insight into the history, culture and spirituality of the Lakotas. more...
