Lied Center Hosts Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Haochen Zhang
China's Haochen Zhang, gold medal winner of classical piano's most prestigious contest, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will light up the stage at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for this performance are $25. University of Nebraska-Lincoln students with a valid I.D., as well as youth age 18 or younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for ticket availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Author Randall Kenan To Give Lunch Talk
Randall Kenan, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln English Department writer-in-residence for 2010, will give a talk at noon in Bailey Library, 228 Andrews Hall.
Kenan has published award-winning fiction and nonfiction, and is currently a professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. His collection of short fiction, Let the Dead Bury Their Dead, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Award and was named a New York Times notable book of the year. The stories explore what it means to be poor, black, and gay in the South, and was hailed as a revival of classic Southern literature. He has been awarded a Guggenheim, a Whiting Writers Award, the Sherwood Anderson Award, the John Dos Passos Award, and the Rome Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
The White Ribbon, Oscar-Nominated Crazy Heart Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents The White Ribbon and Crazy Heart. Both films will show through Mar. 11.
