Sheldon Museum of Art Seeks Docents; Applications Due Aug. 15
Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites volunteers to become museum docents this fall. By leading visitor tours and sharing information about the Sheldon and its outstanding exhibitions, docents enjoy the rewards of assisting others while developing their knowledge about American art.
To apply for this fall's docent training course, volunteers must complete an application by Aug. 15. The course will begin Aug. 30, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Sheldon. Ongoing monthly training sessions will be held throughout the school year. Anandan, Nagy, Sutherland to Enter Nebraska Hall of Computing
The Nebraska Hall of Computing will induct P. Anandan, George Nagy and William "Bert" Sutherland in a Sept. 24 ceremony. Their induction will bring to nine the number of honorees recognized by the hall.
The Nebraska Hall of Computing honors individuals with ties to Nebraska who have made significant contributions to one or more of the fields of computer and information science and engineering, the development and utilization of computing technology, and computing education. more...
Devaney Hosts Largest Events on Special Olympics Schedule

Special Olympics athletes, coaches, representatives and fans have gotten a full-Husker experience while attending USA National Games events at UNL. "Athletics has put our best foot forward for the Special Olympics, showcasing our facilities and the university," said Butch Hug, associate athletic director for facilities and events. "We want every experience to be an enjoyable one."
Athletics facilities used during the Special Olympics event include the Devaney Center and Ed Weir Stadium. "The opening and closing ceremonies at Devaney are the biggest events for us," said Hug. more...

The team from Central Falls, R.I. is tied for the first seed in its division and has its eyes set on the gold. As the 2010 Special Olympics USA National Games wrap-up, Rhode Island hopes to make its state proud in FridayÕs finals.
Repertory Theatre Continues Season with "Act A Lady"
The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, continue their season with "Act A Lady." Set in prohibition-era Wattleburg in 1927 as The Elks stage an over-the-top play to raise funds, Act a Lady is an exuberant comedy that finds everyone involved in the play changed. Performances are July 23 and 31, and Aug. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. and Aug. 1 at 2 p.m., Howell Theatre.
Tickets are $18 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $10 students with ID. Season ticket passes are $45 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $30 students with ID. Tickets are available from the Lied Center Ticket Office and one hour prior to the performance in the Temple Theatres Lobby, or by telephone at 472-4747 or 800-432-3231.
MicMacs; Cyrus Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Micmacs and Cyrus. Micmacs will screen through Aug. 5, while Cyrus will show through Aug. 12.
