UNL Hosts Hemispheric Forum For Young Ag Leaders
Representatives of 34 nations in North and South America are meeting Aug. 2-6 at UNL to discuss a global vision of agriculture and to enhance entrepreneurial skills.
The forum is sponsored by UNL's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources in partnership with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture's Center for Leadership in Agriculture (IICA), headquartered in Costa Rica.
The forum is designed to help participants better promote innovative growth in agriculture and rural development in the hemisphere, and to inspire others in their home countries to do the same.more...
Sorensen Scholarship Gives UNL Students Scandinavian Study Opportunities

Robert and Marjorie Sorensen
Holdrege native Marjorie Mattson Sorensen wants to help students have a better understanding of different cultures and has established the Robert C. Sorensen and Marjorie Mattson Sorensen Scandinavian Scholarship for students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The $300,000 gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation creates a permanently endowed fund that will provide up to three scholarship awards a year to cover half the costs for students to study abroad for a semester in a Scandinavian country, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. more...
Movies on the Green Features Way Out West
The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and the University Program Council will present a series of classic comedies in the annual Jensen's Cinema 16 Collection Movies on the Green series on Thursdays through Aug. 19. Films in the series will be shown at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.) on the lawn north of Kimball Hall. Screenings are free and open to the public. Popcorn and soda are available for purchase.
The series continues this week on Thursday, Aug. 5 with Laurel and Hardy's comic western Way Out West.

Ferguson Hall Demolition Continues
The demolition of Ferguson Hall that began in July is planned to be complete sometime this month. In September and October, the site will be converted into a plaza.
During the demolition and excavation, the university's historical and archeological team has watched for any evidence of building foundation remains of University Hall, the first university building that stood on campus. University Hall was used from 1870 until it was razed in 1948. more...
Repertory Theatre Continues Season with "Act A Lady"
The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, the professional theatre at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, continue their season with "Act A Lady." Set in prohibition-era Wattleburg in 1927 as The Elks stage an over-the-top play to raise funds, Act a Lady is an exuberant comedy that finds everyone involved in the play changed. Performances are Aug. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Howell Theatre.
Tickets are $18 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $10 students with ID. Season ticket passes are $45 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $30 students with ID. Tickets are available from the Lied Center Ticket Office and one hour prior to the performance in the Temple Theatres Lobby, or by telephone at 472-4747 or 800-432-3231.
MicMacs; Cyrus Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Micmacs and Cyrus. Micmacs will screen through Aug. 5, while Cyrus will show through Aug. 12.
