Sheldon Hosts Summer Send-Off
The Sheldon Museum of Art will host the free, "Summer Send-Off" event on Tuesday, Aug. 17. Activities will include live dance music from DJ Romeo, Omaha artist Jeff King creating a 17-foot grafitti piece from start to finish, and on-site caricature artists creating portraits in minutes.
Food for sale will include cookies from Runza, Valentino's pizza, Pepsi products and Dairy Store ice cream.

Nebraska Astronaut Clayton Anderson Returns to Morrill Hall
The University of Nebraska State Museum will host an appearance by NASA astronaut and Nebraska native Clayton Anderson 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.
Extended museum hours on Aug. 17 will be 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking will be free in front of Morrill Hall. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Anderson will give a presentation featuring images from his flights aboard the space shuttle, including the April 5-20 STS-131 mission on Space Shuttle Discovery to resupply the International Space Station. ASUN Joins Association of Big Ten Students
At a conference for student leaders from Big Ten universities, UNL's student government organization, ASUN, was accepted for membership into the Association of Big Ten Students - the official student voice for Big Ten schools.
The conference was held Aug. 6-8 on the campus of Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio. An amendment to the ABTS bylaws to immediately include the University of Nebraska as a member in the body was unanimously approved. more...

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and Joan Rivers: A Piece Of Work. Both films will show through Aug. 26.
