Scalora to Lead Honors Forum
Mario Scalora
Mario Scalora, associate professor of psychology, will deliver an Honors Forum lecture, "Promoting Free Speech in a Globalized Security Environment," at 7 p.m., Dec. 2 in the Nebraska Union auditorium. The lecture, part of the Nebraska Colloquium, is free and open to faculty, staff and students.
The Nebraska Colloquium is a series of lectures designed to engage the entire UNL community in thoughtful discussion of important issues. The theme for the 2010-11 series is "Globalization's Promise."

Nominations for Service to Students, Advising Awards Sought
Chancellor Harvey Perlman invites faculty, staff and students to nominate faculty and staff for two awards: the James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award; and the University of Nebraska Foundation/Builders Award for Outstanding Academic Advising.

SVCAA Candidate Rosowsky at Public Reception

David Rosowsky
David Rosowsky, one of four final candidates for senior vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, will be on campus Dec. 1-3 and will give a public presentation at a reception 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at Sheldon Museum of Art.
Rosowsky is the dean of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to coming to Rensselaer, Rosowsky served as head of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he also held the A.P. and Florence Wiley Chair in Civil Engineering. Previous posts included professorships at Oregon State and Clemson, Johns Hopkins and Purdue universities. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering at Tufts University, and his Ph.D in civil engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Free Screening of '9500 Liberty' at Ross
A free screening of the documentary "9500 Liberty" is 7 p.m., Dec. 2 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. A question and answer session with Eric Byler, director and producer, follows the screening.
The screening is free and open to the public. The film will also be shown at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Individuals at the UNK and UNO screenings will take part in the question and answer session via a live web stream. more...

Student Production of 'Misanthrope' Continues
University Theatre continues its season with a modern adaptation of the Moliere classic comedy, "The Misanthrope." Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2-4 in the Temple Building's Howell Theatre. Individual tickets are $16 general admission, $14 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $10 for students with identification.
"The Misanthrope" is translated and adapted by Tony Harrison. Alceste, the misanthrope of the title played by Alex Jeffery, is disgusted by the hypocrisy, injustice and overall corruption in human society. Alceste's concern with the issue of justice has to do with the fact that he is embroiled in several lawsuits, the outcome of which are determined not by which party is in the right but by who has the most influence in court. more...

Inside Job; Animal Kingdom Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Inside Job and Animal Kingdom. Both films will screen through Dec. 2.
