Public Reading to Feature Nebraska Writers

The Department of English and its Creative Writing Program will host a public reading featuring Nebraska writers David Philip Mullins, Brent Spencer and Mary Helen Stefaniak.
The reading begins at 7 p.m. in the Bailey Library, located on the second floor of Andrews Hall. A reception will follow the reading and books will be available for sale. more...
Hire Big 10 Virtual Career Fair is April 5-7
UNL students and alumni can now share their 'Big 10 talent' early. As a result of a new relationship between UNL Career Services and the Hire Big 10+ Consortium, job-seeking Huskers are invited to a Virtual Career Fair on April 5-7 to connect with employers for full-time and intern positions.
The annual Virtual Career Fair is an opportunity to submit a resume, arrange interviews and chat with employers all online. The event is free and register is available now. Register via the Career Services website. The Hire Big 10+ Consortium consists of career services representatives from the Big 10 and three additional institutions. Environmental Writer Tredinnick Featured April 5-6

Environmental writing is the topic of two presentations by Australian writer Mark Tredinnick April 5 and 6 at UNL. UNL's Department of English will sponsor the first lecture at 3:30 p.m. in Bailey Library, 228 Andrews Hall, 14th and T streets. This talk, "The Craft of Environmental Writing," will be of particular interest to creative writing students.
Both presentations are free and open to the public. Tredinnick, who is on a reading tour of the United States and Canada this spring, will also give talks and readings in several UNL classes. Tredinnick's books include "The Blue Plateau: A Landscape Memoir" (2009), which won the Queensland Premier's Literary Award, and was shortlisted for both the Prime Minister's Literary Award and the Australian Capital Territory Book of the Year prize. Sculptor to Give Talk at Sheldon

Artist Judith Shea will give a talk, 5:30 p.m., at the Sheldon Museum of Art. Shea's sculpture "Shield" is on display in the Sheldon's Great Hall.
Working in New York, Shea refers to her works (like "Shield") as "clothes without figures in them." The lecture, "The Statue Idea," is held in connection with the Sheldon's "Better Half; Better Twelfth: Women Artists in the Collection" exhibition. The talk is free and open to the public.
"Trash To Treasure" Campaign Kicks Off

Three campus units and Nebraska Future Farmers of America are looking to repurpose used and unwanted items. Nebraska FFA is partnering with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Student Involvement and Student Affairs to offer "Trash to Treasures," a day of service during the state FFA convention.
The project is collecting used items that will be given to the Center for People in Need, Goodwill and People's City Mission. Items needed include books, personal care items, small furniture, clothing, household items, hats and dishes. more...
