Kruger miniature gallery presents 'Design Process'
Design process

"Design Process," an exhibition that explores the steps a designer takes to understand design problems and develop a final product, continues at the Kruger Gallery. This exhibition features the design process of select miniature makers and historic furniture designers, and the process used by collection namesake, Eloise Kruger, to design her miniature collection.

It highlights 15 miniature rooms containing a portion of the 20,000-piece collection of miniatures in the Kruger Collection. Included in this exhibition are miniature room creations by UNL senior interior design students Julija Asare and Kelly Paro. Also exhibited are designs by the winners of the third-year interior design studio project, "The Process and the Product." The design challenge winners are Sarah Hitchcock, Chynna LaPole, Sara Olson and Lisa Tills. Read more about the exhibition on Today@UNL.

Jazz In June
Jazz in June Continues With Susie Thorne

Celebrating its 20th season, the Jazz in June concert series continues on Tuesday June 21 with Susie Thorne. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and will draw thousands of revelers to sit under the trees on the plaza west of the Sheldon 12th and R streets. In conjunction with the performances, the Jazz in June Market offers dinner or shopping. Dinner items, fresh produce, baked goods, ice cream from the UNL Dairy Store and many more delights are available for purchase.

Thorne was born in Hastings, the daughter of a classically trained vocalist mother and a professional trumpet player father (who was an occasional sideman for such greats as Lionel Hampton and Gerry Mulligan). After graduating from high school, Thorne traveled the United States as lead vocalist in a rhythm and blues band. Wanting to broaden her horizons, Thorne also traveled overseas where she entertained fans as a solo piano/vocalist on tour through Europe and Asia. Read more...
