Zellmer's Honors Forum lecture is today

Sandi Zellmer
Sandi Zellmer, Alumni Professor of Natural Resources Law at the University of Nebraska College of Law, is featured in UNL's next Honors Forum lecture at 7 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. She will discuss "Water Law for the 21st Century." The presentation is free and open to the public.
The Honors Forum is part of the Nebraska Colloquium, a series of lectures designed to engage UNL faculty, staff and students in thoughtful discussion of issues. The colloquium theme this year is "Water and Global Security."

Bike UNL hosts event
Bike UNL will host its second annual event highlighting the university's ongoing efforts to become a bicycle friendly-designated campus. The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Nebraska Union plaza. Local vendors, education and safety demonstrations, games, prizes and entertainment will be showcased. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will feature a Fender Blender Xtracycle demonstration, where students will have the opportunity to make their own smoothie using the human power of riding a bicycle. Participants can also sign up for a chance to win a new bicycle donated by the University Bookstore. Read more about Bike UNL in Today@UNL.

National media outlets featured and cited UNL sources on a number of topics in the past month. Appearances included Dennis Alexander, electrical engineering and mechanical and materials engineering being quoted March 12 by The Associated Press about the extent of the threat of a nuclear plant fire at Fort Calhoun. The story appeared in hundreds of media outlets around the country.
Susan Swearer, school psychology, appeared in dozens of media outlets in early March following her appearance at Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation launch on Feb. 29. Highlights included coverage by The Associated Press, Slate, The San Jose Mercury News, The Huffington Post and others. On March 27, she appeared on "Anderson," a daytime syndicated talk show hosted by Anderson Cooper, to discuss anti-bullying techniques.

Economist to discuss climate change, biofuels, food production

Michael Roberts
Michael Roberts, an economist from North Carolina State University, will speak on "Food Commodity Prices: Stylized Facts and Prospects for the Future," at 3:30 p.m. in the Hardin Hall auditorium. The talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of a two-day visit sponsored by the School of Natural Resources and the Department of Agricultural Economics.
Roberts, who is in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at NCSU, will discuss how climate change, biofuel production and other factors may influence supply and demand of rice, wheat, maize and soybeans in coming decades. He said that these four crops cover about half the world's arable land and amount to three-quarters of the caloric base of world food consumption. Read more about this talk in Today@UNL.

Bio sci seminar to feature Calow

Peter Calow
Peter Calow will discuss his work as a science correspondent for Vogue and his early work in ecology in a 3:30 p.m. School of Biological Sciences Seminar in Hamilton Hall, room 112.
Calow is a research professor in the Office of Research and Economic Development. Before joining UNL in 2011, Calow was director of the Danish Environmental Assessment Institute and professor of zoology at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. Read more about this seminar in Today@UNL.

'Dating Doctor' David Coleman at Nebraska Union

David Coleman
Thirteen-time National Speaker of the Year David Coleman, the Dating Doctor, will present "Making Relationships Matter" beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. Admission is free for UNL students with valid NCard and is $5 for faculty, staff and the public.
Coleman's humor and useful relationship advice has made him a favorite at campuses nationwide. He has spoken to more than 2 million people in all 50 states, Canada and Europe. Audience members at more than 2,500 college campuses, corporations, conferences, singles organizations, military installations, churches and civic groups have experienced his energetic and entertaining programs.
